#27 Lesson Learned
I think the one of the lessons is not for the survivors, but for the search and rescue team. You should never assume some one is dead, unless you have found the body. I get it, its a mountain range, and its massive. But you have a passenger plane that has over 40 people in it. This isn't the ocean, the chances of them drowning is slim to none.

#24 Who is more admirable?
I think Aron Ralston is more admirable. I feel like Timothy Treadwell was just really lucky he didn't die earlier. I don't believe the bears thought he was their savior, I think it was all luck, and he was just a little loopy.
#21,22,23 Emotional Intelligence
I really don't think the test is that important, because it gave me a really low score and I know I'm not that bad of a guy. I feel like you don't need a quiz to tell how well of a person you are, as long as you know and are happy with yourself you should be fine. Out of the 5 areas I think empathy is the most important one. I think this because people who don't show strong empathy can do a lot of harm to people and the planet. They just don't think of other people.
#20 Technology and us
I think technology will be more and more involved in our lives as we get older. I wouldn't be surprised if a chip is in our heads like in that tv show. We won't just wear technology, it will be part of us.

1. A proposed oil pipeline going from the oil sands to the U.S
2. Because the Canadian government wants it in so bad, but Obama doesn't, just like all of Canada and the U.S other then Alberta
3. No, because Canada's obsession with oil really annoys me and its bound to leak somewhere

#15 In conclusion ...
After listening to the end of Serial, I think the most they can/should do is a retrial. The problem is there isn't enough evidence saying he did do it, and there isn't enough saying he didn't. I don't think that if this crime would of happened now, that here would be any confusion. To be honest it was a really bad investigation and with today's training and technology, I'm sure we would know who really killed her
#14 Apple Watch
No I won't buy one because they're overpriced and I don't wear a watch in the first place. Also, sometimes electronics over heat. Imagine it on your wrist, over heating. How about no.
#13 Is he guilty???
I think it is a smart thing to do; releasing info through out the podcast. I think if she revealed it all at the beginning, it would be harder for the listener to question who it is. If we were questioning, then the podcast would suck and it would be like listening to a news article. All shows that have crime in it like Dateline and stuff use the exact same concept.
#12 Facts on the Depression
1. The Wall Street Crash of 1929 was one of the main causes of the Great Depression. “Black Thursday,” “Black Monday,” and “Black Tuesday” are all correct terms to describe the Crash because the initial crash occurred over several days, with Tuesday being the most devastating.
2. One American sheep farmer found that he would not make money off of his sheep during the depression. Rather than watch his 3,000 sheep starve to death, he cut their throats and threw them in a canyon.
3. A number of great structures, including the Empire State Building and the Golden Gate Bridge, were completed during the Great Depression, providing many jobs to the unemployed.
4. In the mountain communities of Appalachia, whole families were reduced to dandelions and blackberries for their basic diet. Some children were so hungry, they chewed on their own hands.
5. The dust bowl was 150 000 square miles
6. One monster dust storm reached the Atlantic Ocean.
7. The name "Dust Bowl"came from a newspaper
8. Dust Bowl-era migrants from Oklahoma or Kansas; or anyone who lives in Oklahoma
9. California received over 7000 okie migrants a month
10. John Steinbeck was born in Salinas, California, United States.

#11 Should this novel stay??
I think this novel should stay because it's not only a good book on depression and the stigma around it, but it's also a good and sort of funny book in general

#7 The first 1/4 of the book
I think its pretty good so far, pretty relatable. Although I have no idea how true any of the depression stuff like how he throws up his food and tentacles stuff is, but it looks pretty real to me. I think its definitely true about how he is stressing about the news in the world, or how school is and stuff. I am happy with it because it's a depressing topic, but its told with humor, so it is easy to read. The only thing is that his friend sounds really stupid and he is kinda annoying.

#6 Vaccinations
I don't understand why people in our class were getting mad about the kids not being able to go to school. Saying that they are missing out on education is pretty ridiculous considering up to grade six its pretty much glorified day care. Also they aren't punishing the parents or kids, they are saying they don't don't want these un-vaccinated kids walking around schools that have the ability to create the second coming of the black death (not really but still).I agree, if they aren't vaccinated they shouldn't be allowed at school. Not just for the safety of them, but for everyone around them.
#5 Mental Health in School
I think learning about mental health is crucial, because we spend so much time learning how to keep our body healthy, yet we don't spend nearly enough time talking about how to keep our brains healthy. It all should start in gr 8 because everything changes once you get to high school. Everyone isn't your friend and its gong to be 10x more hard. I feel like everyone is so naive about it being hard. Yes, 95% high school isn't stressful. But when it is, it hits you like a truck. All of a sudden your 70% average isn't good enough, you're swamped in tests and quizzes, look out because you now have to plan out your entire life in gr 12, and teenagers don't have the mental capacity to handle all of this. They need to change the curriculum, to help teenagers before its too late.

#4 Samsung and the NSA
I think this is the stupidest idea I've heard. Mostly because the implementation of it is "to improve the viewers experience." Why would I need to improve my experience, when its been fine for 50 years. The only way to actually improve it is to put Netflix and all the other specialty channels like HBO and FX on there for free. I love how they refuse to name the company that is making the software, which everyone knows its the NSA anyways.

#3 Mental Health Crisis
1. Cornell University need to add nets to the bridges on campus to prevent students from jumping off and committing suicide.
2. A quarter of all students will get some type of mental illness during their time, usually anxiety or depression.
3. In a survey from Alberta 51 per cent reported that, within the past 12 months, they’d “felt things were hopeless.” Over half felt “overwhelming anxiety.”

3. In a survey from Alberta 51 per cent reported that, within the past 12 months, they’d “felt things were hopeless.” Over half felt “overwhelming anxiety.”
4. 7% said they considered suicide
5. Some wonder if today’s students are having difficulty coping with the rapidly changing world around them, a world where they can’t unplug, can’t relax, and believe they must stay at the top of their class, no matter what.
6. 7.5 per cent of students who started university with no history of mental illness developed some symptoms.
7. After motor vehicle accidents, suicide is the leading cause of death in Canadians aged 10 to 24.
8. In July, the unemployment rate for Canadians aged 15 to 29 was nearly 12 per cent, a reason to be stressed about not getting a job.

10. It can take up to 4 weeks to see one at Ryerson

#2 Group Novels
I chose "It's kind of a funny story" because I saw the movie a long time ago, and I thought it seemed pretty relatable to teenagers. I think reading a book you can relate to is better because then you can get more into the book and you'll want to read it more. Compared to a book about snorting crank, I'd rather read this
